ABSTRACT

Background: As polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is the most common endocrine disorder among women between the age group of 18-44 years. Therefore present study aims to improve knowledge of nursing students by giving them educational intervention regarding polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.  Method: Quantitative pre experimental research design was used to conduct study.  A sample of 60 nursing students was selected for the study by through non probability convenient sampling technique. Results: The mean pre test knowledge score was 6.8 ± 3.4, whereas mean post test knowledge score was 21.3 ± 3. The postetst mean value knowledge score among nursing students was significantly higher than the pre test knowledge score. The mean difference was 14.8. The paired student “t” test value was 56.5 which was significant at P=0.05 level. The findings revealed that there was significant association between knowledge score with selected demographic variables of the nursing students like BMI, junk food liking and rest of demographic variables were not associated with knowledge score. Conclusion: Study concluded that knowledge regarding polycystic ovarian syndrome is much needed among nursing students for prevention of future problems related to polycystic ovarian syndrome.
